Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Kolkata police thwarted a daring abduction and extortion attempt in the heart of the city, leading to the apprehension of four suspects involved in the criminal conspiracy. The incident unfolded on 7th July 2024, when a criminal gang abducted the son of a resident and demanded a hefty ransom.
According to police reports, the victim was forcefully taken from his surroundings at around 14:00 hrs and held captive in a flat under the jurisdiction of Golf Green P.S. During his confinement, he was subjected to physical assault and intimidation while the abductors demanded a ransom of Rs. 1,00,000/- from his family.
Swift action by law enforcement led to the arrest of two suspects, Saikat Paul and Babu Sona Mondal, as they attempted to collect the ransom amount near 118, NSC Bose Road, Kol-40, riding the victim's motorcycle. The timely intervention also resulted in the rescue of the abducted boy at approximately 16:35 hrs from a residence at 2/39, Arabinda Nagar, Kol-40, where he was held captive.
Further investigations led to the apprehension of two additional suspects, identified as Peter D’cruze and Anisha Das, from the same location. Crucial evidence was seized from the flat belonging to accused Saikat Paul, linking them directly to the crime.
